Today after I finished what I needed to do in the morning, I had totally planned on taking the boys to the beach to meet some friends there. Yeah! Love the beach! Now usually I am not very good at punishing my children by taking away something fun that we are going to do but today I just had to, even though I think that it is punishing me more than them! They went out to play a little one on one basketball and a huge fight broke out between them with hitting and mean words being thrown around! Whats with that?? They just would not stop and I had had it so therefore we cancelled our plans to go to the beach and they are going to help me finish what there is to do on my to-do list! There! That will teach them but boy am I bummed! I think in the end I was the one who was punished. I really needed a beach day today and it was one of the things I had on my to-do list! Oh well I think that I am going on Thursday now, with or without them! They will just have to deal with a very unhappy Mom today and hopefully that will get my point across!! I was going to go to the beach today also, but ended up not going. To make you feel better, I checked it out on the internet, and it didn't look very good today anyways. I am thinking of maybe going on Thursday too....I realize I am not invited, but let me know where you are going.
Good for you! Stick to your guns. But next time go to the beach yourself! It's your reward for sticking to your guns.
I have no idea where I am going but we would love to go to the same beach that you do. The more the merrier! Where do you usually go?? And I do agree with you Rachel, I should have gone without them! Next time!
we missed you, pam! it was pretty overcast, but overcast beach beats hot and sunny home ANY day! oh, wait...i was saying how much we missed you. we did and hoped you were alright. we were wondering what could have happened and were afraid it involved broken bones and a trampoline, so i am glad that it wasn't anything that involved the emergency room. like kaye, if you disclose the location of your thursday beach trip we may join you...
Go by yourself. I never ground my kids because that is punishing me. I always make thier bed time ealier. My kids have been in bed at 6 before. They hate it. But they can read or write or just sleep and it is a peaceful punishment for me. Now go to the beach.
ya i did that to kassidy about going to a get together swim party my neighbor was having thinking, ah, she'll totally behave cuz she loves to swim, YA RIGHT and like you I was the one who felt punished and I hated it! i will have to try with something else next time it's something i also want to do, lol. good for you though, i know it was hard!!
oooh i like the comment about going to bed earlier, i may have to try that one cuz she does not like to go to bed even on time...hmmm that might work :)
I so hate when I have to miss out because my kids are being rotten.
We should plan a Mom's only surfing day and that'll teach them!
